- June 2008 will be a busy month for FBC Sorrento.
There are a number of special events happening at FBC during the month of June beginning with a visit from Pure Heart, a Southern Gospel singing group, on Sunday, June 8. The worship service will be at 10:00 am and all of our regular worship services will be cancelled that day. Dinner will follow this special service.
Saturday, June 14, will be the day for our Vacation Bible School kickoff event from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This year's theme is God's Big Backyard and activities will continue all week, June 16 - 20 from 6:30-9:00 pm each night. There will also be a special Family Day on Sunday, June 22 @ 10:00 am. - Lord, please Fill the Pews, Fill the Pastors, Fill
the People.
We have begun a new faith campaign to reach the community for Jesus Christ. The congregation is praying in faith that God would fill four Sunday worship services with a total of 800 people. Tuesday, August 28, a group of church members began to pray over each empty pew asking God to bless those He brings to occupy those seats. This will continue each Sunday and Tuesday as we trust in God's blessings. There is an article in the September newsletter entitled "Can We Trust God?" as well as the special each one is praying. months ahead of schedule.
A Spanish language Bible study began at 11:15 AM, which was followed by a Spanish language worship service at 12:30 PM. 14 adults and children attended both. Pastor Green gave an opening welcome and prayer, which was translated by Pastor Mireles. The remainder of the service was led by Pastor Mireles and his ministry team. What a wonderful blessing God has poured out on La Primera Bautista de Sorrento. The highlight of the service was the salvation of one of the adults in attendance as she professed faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
